SUMMARY:aaee2021
DESCRIPTION:Mandjoogoordap: Changing Tides \n\n\n\nInvitation to aaee2021\n\n\n\nWe invite you to join us at the 21st Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE) Biennial Conference and 4th Research Symposium. \n\n\n\nHosted in Mandurah\, Western Australia\, a city renowned for its beautiful waterways\, internationally recognised wetlands\, ancient thrombolites and enchanting plants and wildlife. This global biodiversity hotspot truly is one of a kind. \n\n\n\nInspired by moving local examples\, resilience theory\, future’s thinking and Mandurah’s relaxed waterside lifestyle\, the overarching conference theme is “Mandjoogoordap: Changing Tides”. Mandjoogoordap means “meeting place of the heart” in the indigenous Noongar language of the region\, and changing tides can represent the need for change\, the inevitability of change as with natural tidal cycles\, or the positive changes resulting from Education for Sustainability efforts. Combined\, Mandjoogoordap: Changing Tides is a concept that aims to showcase examples of people coming together to create positive change through environmental education\, along with innovative\, practical and effective tools for change-making. \n\n\n\nThis intergenerational\, inclusive and inspiring event ensures an anticipated 100 delegates will be immersed in the latest thinking and exposed to the best information and resources. With sustainability professionals and educators from all sectors\, including education\, government\, NGOs and community groups\, ours is an audience that values authentic ideas and ways of working. \n\n\n\nJoin us in the Noongar time of Kambarang\, the season of birth\, when the weather starts to warm\, rain eases and we see an abundance of wildflowers and new arrivals. Together\, we will explore\, discuss and learn from others who are working to empower their communities to action change. \n\n\n\nSharing the latest in theory\, policy and practice\, our intention is to turn this conference moment into a movement by challenging old thinking and fostering innovation\, collaboration\, resilience and genuinely effective action. We look forward to “changing the tides” of this incredible field with you as we welcome you to our Mandurah\, our Mandjoogoordap – meeting place of the heart. \n\n\n\nCLick here for more information >>

SUMMARY:World Migratory Bird Day
DESCRIPTION:World Migratory Bird Day 2022 Theme to Focus on Light Pollution\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBonn\, 9 December 2021 – Light Pollution will be the focus of the World Migratory Bird Day 2022 campaign.  \n\n\n\nArtificial light is increasing globally by at least 2 per cent per year and it is known to adversely affect many bird species. Light pollution is a significant threat to migratory birds\, causing disorientation when they fly at night\, leading to collisions with buildings\, perturbing their internal clocks\, or interfering with their ability to undertake long-distance migrations.   \n\n\n\nSolutions to light pollution are readily available. For instance\, more and more cities in the world are taking measures to dim building lights during migration phases in spring and autumn. Best practice guidelines are also being developed under the Convention on Migratory Species to address this growing issue and ensure that action is taken globally to help birds migrate safely. \n\n\n\nStay tuned on how you can get involved and visit back our website soon to find more materials and register your events. \n\n\n\nWorld migratory bird day website >>

SUMMARY:World Bee Day
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating World Bee Day 2022\n\n\n\nLet’s celebrate together\, raise awareness and do something good for bees. \n\n\n\nThe main purpose of World Bee Day events is to spread awareness of the significance of bees and other pollinators for our survival. Simply proclaiming World Bee Day does not do much for bees and other pollinators; the main work of safeguarding their existence still needs to be undertaken. World Bee Day is an excellent opportunity to put bees at the centre of the national conversation for a day and encourage actions that create more bee-friendly landscapes. \n\n\n\nBeekeepers and nature conservationists are united in encouraging improved conditions for bees to build pollination security and to safeguard our food security. \n\n\n\nJoin us in celebrating World Bee Day – 20th May 2022 \n\n\n\nWorld bee day website >>

DESCRIPTION:Building a shared future for all life\n\n\n\nThe Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity is pleased to announce the Biodiversity Day 2022 slogan: “Building a shared future for all life”. \n\n\n\nThe slogan was chosen to continue building momentum and support for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework to be adopted at the upcoming UN Biodiversity Conference #COP15. \n\n\n\nBiodiversity remains the answer to several sustainable development challenges. From nature-based solutions to climate\, health issues\, food and water security\, and sustainable livelihoods\, biodiversity is the foundation upon which we can build back better. \n\n\n\nWhat can I do?\n\n\n\nWave of Solidarity \n\n\n\nThe international community is counting the days before the adoption of a new global biodiversity framework\, based on negotiations that are taking place leading up to the UN Biodiversity Conference #COP15. Every remaining day before the UN Biodiversity Conference counts to make your voice heard loud and clear: Let the world know that you wish for a strong global biodiversity framework that will “bend the curve” on biodiversity loss. Let the world know that you care about your future! \n\n\n\nThe Secretariat is soliciting videos and written statements from all regions of the world. \n\n\n\nCelebrations \n\n\n\nAnyone can organize activities! Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic\, Biodiversity Day 2022 will be commemorated mainly online. You are in the best position to know what awareness-raising campaigns and calls to action are feasible at your national level \n\n\n\nActions for Biodiversity \n\n\n\nLists of 22 actions for biodiversity will be released gradually for various audiences to inspire action for nature. The actions are aligned with the new global biodiversity framework. You are called to: \n\n\n\nAdopt any of the 22 actions or propose your own actions or listsShare photos/videos of your action(s) on social media with the hashtag #BiodiversityDay (available in other languages)\n\n\n\nIn the run-up to 22 May\, the campaign will showcase these actions taking place around the world. \n\n\n\nUse and share Biodiversity Day assets \n\n\n\nDigital assets to support your commemorations of Biodiversity Day are available. SUMMARY:World Environment Day
DESCRIPTION:World Environment Day on 5 June is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually since 1974\, the event has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach\, with millions of people from across the world engaging to protect the planet.\n\n\n\nTHE COMMUNITY\n\n\n\nWorld Environment Day is a global platform for inspiring positive change. With over 150 countries participating\, this UN international day engages governments\, businesses\, civil society\, schools\, celebrities\, cities and communities\, raising awareness and celebrating environmental action. \n\n\n\nIndividuals can be drivers of change through their support for businesses and governments. The actions of these larger entities can have a transformational impact\, potentially locking in sustainable consumption and production behaviours for the decades to come. \n\n\n\nTHE HOST\n\n\n\nEach year\, World Environment Day is hosted by a different country where the  official celebrations take place. The host country for 2022 is Sweden. \n\n\n\nWorld Environment Day 2022 will be an opportunity to showcase some of Sweden’s pioneering work on the environment over the past 50 years. UNEP will work with Sweden to showcase these innovations through a series of written stories and short videos that will be shared online. \n\n\n\n2022 A HISTORIC MILESTONE\n\n\n\n2022 is a historic milestone for the global environmental community. It marks 50 years since the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment\, widely seen as the first international meeting on the environment. The 1972 Stockholm Conference spurred the formation of environment ministries and agencies around the world and kickstarted a host of new global agreements to collectively protect the environment. It was also where the goals of poverty alleviation and environmental protection became linked\, paving the way for the Sustainable Development Goals. At the Stockholm Conference the idea of World Environment Day was formalized\, with the first one being celebrated in 1974.   \n\n\n\nIn early June 2022 the high-level Stockholm+50 international meeting will be held in Sweden\, a few days before World Environment Day. The communications around these events are connected and will be mutually reinforcing. \n\n\n\nSTAY CONNECTED\n\n\n\nWorld Environment Day 2022\, like previous years\, will be celebrated by millions of people across the world\, both online and through in-person events. Sign up here to stay informed and be part of the Only One Earth campaign. \n\n\n\nWorld Environment Day website >>

SUMMARY:World Oceans Day
DESCRIPTION:This year’s United Nations World Oceans Day\, on 8 June 2022\, will highlight the theme Revitalization: Collective Action for the Ocean. This is the first hybrid celebration of the annual event\, hosted in-person at the UN Headquarters in New York and broadcast live. \n\n\n\nThe ocean connects\, sustains\, and supports us all. Yet its health is at a tipping point and so is the well-being of all that depends on it. As the past years have shown us\, we need to work together to create a new balance with the ocean that no longer depletes its bounty but instead restores its vibrancy and brings it new life. \n\n\n\nJoin us for United Nations World Oceans Day 2022\,  hosted by the United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea\, Office of Legal Affairs\, produced in partnership with nonprofit Oceanic Global and presented by Blancpain as we shed light on the communities\, ideas\, and solutions that are working together to protect and revitalize the ocean and everything it sustains. \n\n\n\nUnited Nations World Oceans Day website >>\n\n\n\nMarine Stewardship Council – Oceans Day website >>

SUMMARY:Global Wind Day 2022
DESCRIPTION:Global Wind Day is observed on June 15\, 2022. Global Wind Day is a worldwide event that occurs annually. It is organised by EWEA (European Wind Energy Association) and GWEC (Global Wind Energy Council). It is a day when wind energy is celebrated\, information is exchanged and adults and children find out about wind energy\, its power and the possibilities it holds to change the world. \n\n\n\nIn association with EWEA and GWEC\, national wind energy associations and companies involved in wind energy production organise events in many countries around the world. Events include visits to onshore and offshore wind farms\, information campaigns\, demonstration turbines being set up in cities\, wind workshops and a wind parade. Many events happens on Global Wind Day itself\, but there are also events on the days and weeks before and afterwards. \n\n\n\nWind power is the conversion of wind energy into a useful form of energy\, such as using wind turbines to make electrical power\, windmills for mechanical power\, wind pumps for water pumping or drainage\, or sails to propel ships. Wind power\, as an alternative to fossil fuels\, is plentiful\, renewable\, widely distributed\, clean\, produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation and uses little land.
