SUMMARY:World Migratory Bird Day
DESCRIPTION:World Migratory Bird Day 2022 Theme to Focus on Light Pollution\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBonn\, 9 December 2021 – Light Pollution will be the focus of the World Migratory Bird Day 2022 campaign.  \n\n\n\nArtificial light is increasing globally by at least 2 per cent per year and it is known to adversely affect many bird species. Light pollution is a significant threat to migratory birds\, causing disorientation when they fly at night\, leading to collisions with buildings\, perturbing their internal clocks\, or interfering with their ability to undertake long-distance migrations.   \n\n\n\nSolutions to light pollution are readily available. For instance\, more and more cities in the world are taking measures to dim building lights during migration phases in spring and autumn. Best practice guidelines are also being developed under the Convention on Migratory Species to address this growing issue and ensure that action is taken globally to help birds migrate safely. \n\n\n\nStay tuned on how you can get involved and visit back our website soon to find more materials and register your events. \n\n\n\nWorld migratory bird day website >>

SUMMARY:World Bee Day
DESCRIPTION:Celebrating World Bee Day 2022\n\n\n\nLet’s celebrate together\, raise awareness and do something good for bees. \n\n\n\nThe main purpose of World Bee Day events is to spread awareness of the significance of bees and other pollinators for our survival. Simply proclaiming World Bee Day does not do much for bees and other pollinators; the main work of safeguarding their existence still needs to be undertaken. World Bee Day is an excellent opportunity to put bees at the centre of the national conversation for a day and encourage actions that create more bee-friendly landscapes. \n\n\n\nBeekeepers and nature conservationists are united in encouraging improved conditions for bees to build pollination security and to safeguard our food security. \n\n\n\nJoin us in celebrating World Bee Day – 20th May 2022 \n\n\n\nWorld bee day website >>

SUMMARY:International Day for Biological Diversity
DESCRIPTION:Building a shared future for all life\n\n\n\nThe Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity is pleased to announce the Biodiversity Day 2022 slogan: “Building a shared future for all life”. \n\n\n\nThe slogan was chosen to continue building momentum and support for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework to be adopted at the upcoming UN Biodiversity Conference #COP15. \n\n\n\nBiodiversity remains the answer to several sustainable development challenges. From nature-based solutions to climate\, health issues\, food and water security\, and sustainable livelihoods\, biodiversity is the foundation upon which we can build back better. \n\n\n\nWhat can I do?\n\n\n\nWave of Solidarity \n\n\n\nThe international community is counting the days before the adoption of a new global biodiversity framework\, based on negotiations that are taking place leading up to the UN Biodiversity Conference #COP15. Every remaining day before the UN Biodiversity Conference counts to make your voice heard loud and clear: Let the world know that you wish for a strong global biodiversity framework that will “bend the curve” on biodiversity loss. Let the world know that you care about your future! \n\n\n\nThe Secretariat is soliciting videos and written statements from all regions of the world. \n\n\n\nCelebrations \n\n\n\nAnyone can organize activities! Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic\, Biodiversity Day 2022 will be commemorated mainly online. You are in the best position to know what awareness-raising campaigns and calls to action are feasible at your national level \n\n\n\nActions for Biodiversity \n\n\n\nLists of 22 actions for biodiversity will be released gradually for various audiences to inspire action for nature. The actions are aligned with the new global biodiversity framework. You are called to: \n\n\n\nAdopt any of the 22 actions or propose your own actions or listsShare photos/videos of your action(s) on social media with the hashtag #BiodiversityDay (available in other languages)\n\n\n\nIn the run-up to 22 May\, the campaign will showcase these actions taking place around the world. \n\n\n\nUse and share Biodiversity Day assets \n\n\n\nDigital assets to support your commemorations of Biodiversity Day are available. Please visit these pages regularly and follow @UNBiodiversity on social media to get all the updates. \n\n\n\nfacebook.com/UNBiodiversity \n\n\n\nfacebook.com/UNBiodiversityConvention \n\n\n\ntwitter.com/unbiodiversity \n\n\n\ninstagram.com/unbiodiversity \n\n\n\nlinkedin.com/company/unbiodiversity \n\n\n\nBiodiversity Day website >>

SUMMARY:National Reconciliation Week
DESCRIPTION:27 MAY TO 3 JUNE\n\n\n\nThe National Reconciliation Week 2022 theme\, “Be Brave. Make Change.” is a challenge to all Australians— individuals\, families\, communities\, organisations and government—to Be Brave and tackle the unfinished business of reconciliation so we can Make Change for the benefit of all Australians. \n\n\n\nLast year Reconciliation Australia encouraged all Australians to take action; not just in National  Reconciliation Week but every week of the year. \n\n\n\nWe saw unprecedented response to our suggested actions for everyday and for braver action. \n\n\n\nThis year we are asking everyone to make change beginning with brave actions in their daily lives – where they live\, work\, play and socialise. \n\n\n\nNational Reconciliation Week—27 May to 3 June—is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories\, cultures\, and achievements\, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. \n\n\n\nFind out more about National Reconciliation Week    #NRW2022 #BeBraveMakeChange \n\n\n\nNational Reconciliation Week website >>

SUMMARY:World Environment Day
DESCRIPTION:World Environment Day on 5 June is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and held annually since 1974\, the event has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach\, with millions of people from across the world engaging to protect the planet.\n\n\n\nTHE COMMUNITY\n\n\n\nWorld Environment Day is a global platform for inspiring positive change. With over 150 countries participating\, this UN international day engages governments\, businesses\, civil society\, schools\, celebrities\, cities and communities\, raising awareness and celebrating environmental action. \n\n\n\nIndividuals can be drivers of change through their support for businesses and governments. The actions of these larger entities can have a transformational impact\, potentially locking in sustainable consumption and production behaviours for the decades to come. \n\n\n\nTHE HOST\n\n\n\nEach year\, World Environment Day is hosted by a different country where the  official celebrations take place. The host country for 2022 is Sweden. \n\n\n\nWorld Environment Day 2022 will be an opportunity to showcase some of Sweden’s pioneering work on the environment over the past 50 years. UNEP will work with Sweden to showcase these innovations through a series of written stories and short videos that will be shared online. \n\n\n\n2022 A HISTORIC MILESTONE\n\n\n\n2022 is a historic milestone for the global environmental community. It marks 50 years since the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment\, widely seen as the first international meeting on the environment. The 1972 Stockholm Conference spurred the formation of environment ministries and agencies around the world and kickstarted a host of new global agreements to collectively protect the environment. It was also where the goals of poverty alleviation and environmental protection became linked\, paving the way for the Sustainable Development Goals. At the Stockholm Conference the idea of World Environment Day was formalized\, with the first one being celebrated in 1974.   \n\n\n\nIn early June 2022 the high-level Stockholm+50 international meeting will be held in Sweden\, a few days before World Environment Day. The communications around these events are connected and will be mutually reinforcing. \n\n\n\nSTAY CONNECTED\n\n\n\nWorld Environment Day 2022\, like previous years\, will be celebrated by millions of people across the world\, both online and through in-person events. Sign up here to stay informed and be part of the Only One Earth campaign. \n\n\n\nWorld Environment Day website >>

DESCRIPTION:National Threatened Species Day\n\n\n\nOn 7 September each year\, many people stop and reflect on the fact that on that same date in 1936\, Australia’s Tasmanian tiger\, also known as the thylacine (Thylacinus cynocephalus)\, slipped over the extinction line. \n\n\n\nSixty years later in 1996\, the Threatened Species Network founded by WWF-Australia and the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust established National Threatened Species Day to commemorate the death of the last Tasmanian tiger at Hobart Zoo.  \n\n\n\nNational Threatened Species Day is a day when we shine a spotlight on all the Australian native animal and plant species that are facing similar fates to that of the Tasmanian tiger. \n\n\n\nToday we celebrate our iconic Aussie wildlife and the incredible conservation work to restore our environment is our mission to Regenerate Australia. \n\n\n\nFind out more: https://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/topics/animals-and-plants/threatened-species/saving-our-species-news/threatened-species-day
